Mature students and entering medicine

Any advice for a 31 year old wanting to apply to medicine?

I am preparing to the write the Mcat and have the best tutors ever... :) , but I am worried about my old transcript...graduated in '92 with a BScOT with GPA's of 3.2-3.5....

Anything I should be doing?

Who would I ever get to write reference letters -- certainly my profs from ages ago would not be that appropriate, although the director of my school knows me well. (But I'm not sure she would be thrilled about me applying to medical school and leaving OT as a profession....) I work with many assistant and associate profs for the faculty of medicine at Dal..., but not sure what they would be looking for...

Any suggestions?

(and let me tell you for free how scary it is considering this amongst 20 somethings just freshly finishing relevant coursework....it's been eons since organic chem, neurophys, biochem, etc, etc.... :)

My advice-- decide this is what you want early in life!!!

Anyone have suggestions for me?

<pagetext>I don't think the subject was discussed before but I was wondering if anyone thinks or thought about it? If so, what are the advantages and the drawbacks?

<title>Quick question...</title>

<pagetext>Hi guys,

For those of you in the know, can you tell me what "grand rounds" are? I read about these things fairly often yet don't know what they're all about. (I'm imagining a stadium-sized horde of people carousing through a certain wing of a hospital discussing particular cases related to one subject.)

Cheers,

Kirsteen
