I know UBC is taking in 128 people this year. But does anyone know how many people get interviewed ?

Just want to see what my odds will be after I get the interview call.

Also if someone can shed some light on what the procedure is after the interview. How do they make their final decision ?

Thank you for replying.

Jim,

I think UBC interviews something like 2.5-3x the number of spots.

As for after the interview, they give you percentile rankings in the different criteria (interview, academics, etc.), but I think the final decision comes down to the admissions committee.

Hi Jim2375,

Further to BCgirl's post (she and I chatted about the UBC admissions process in length last year given that we were both down to the wire and trying to make a relaxing time of late April :eek )... The admissions committee apparently pulls together a summary sheet for each interviewed applicant. This sheet lists the key points regarding each applicant: academic scores, interview scores and non-academic criteria scores. The committee then sits in a locked room and comes to consensus as to who is admitted and who is not. Apparently it's a fairly straightforward, but serious, process.

Cheers,

Kirsteen
