to put it to rest...

After reading numerous posts I finally decided to say the following:

I think UBC Med is a good school needing reforms in terms of teaching, resources, and, what a lot of ppl already know, admissions.

The quality of PBL tutors is questionable, as well as research resources for those wishing to enter academic medicine. Moreover, the admissions process could defintely be revamped.

But these problems are not unique to UBC. Surprisingly, some persons are interpreting positive statements about UBC as being idealistic and misleading. Obviously (and quite sadly in my opinion) they don't know how to read posts and utilize information properly.

I think UBC is good school and if you are lucky enough to get in, like I was, then I would definitely consider it. UBC has proven that it is willing to consider the opinions of its students in making a good school even better. Lastly, I consider the clinical skills of all canadian graduates to be on par with the top tier schools in the US, regardless of what Canadian medical school they graduated from.

good luck to all who applied,

seno
