Guest shoopshoop
hello everyone, i am really in a confused state of mind right now and i'd lke to hear what anyone thinks of what i should do... im a canadian citizen finishing highschool in a year from now in Amman,Jordan. i could either enter medicine here STRAIGHT with no fear of rejection, then after 7 yrs i can go to Vancouver, hopefully, where i used to live to seek a residency there or any place in canada ...frozen Yukon if i have to:) do u think i should go to canada in the first place and compete like everyone else for a spot in medicine, or like i said previously enter in jordan first. im only afraid that Canadian universities would reject a residency spot for me:\ i know my chances of acceptance as an out-of country not just out of province applier will be as slim as a string...but at least i would gaurantee myself an MD behind my name right? well i know many of you dont care what happens to me but i still know the other "many" can at least give me their opinion. tank u;)

The interesting stuff is on pages 15 and 16 of the .pdf (this is pages 28-31 in the pamphlet image itself), where there is some discussion regarding the Bitonti case. On page 16, they give figures for new registrants (new physicians?) to BC with a breakdown of their country of origin. 1999 1998 1997 NEW REGISTRANTS IN B.C.......1999....1998....1997 Canada ..................................235......261......292 United Kingdom .........................1........12........20 United States.. ..........................0.........2..........1 South Africa.. ...........................19........16.......15 Australia and New Zealand...........2.........2..........3 Others ....................................24........31........22 Total......................................281......324......353 www.cpsbc.bc.ca/physician/documents/2000_Annual_Report.pdf And here is the Bitonti case, all 52 pages of it from the BC Human Rights Tribunal. There's a lot of interesting reading in there, and I think it's something that definitely should be read if you are in the position of trying to gain licensure in BC (I suspect, but am not sure, that this is generalizable to other Canadian provinces as well). www.bchrt.bc.ca/down/decisions_2002/bitonti_et_al_v_college_of_physicians_and_surgeons_of_bchrt.pdf Ian
