Overview of the different specialties

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm looking at specializing and trying to get a sense of whats out there. Is there a website that gives an overview of the different specialties, what they do, what an average day is like, income range, whether its competitive to get in, and how long it takes? Thanks! :)

Hi,

Carms is probably your best bet if you're looking for a Canadian specific site. There's program descriptions as well as match statistics.

If you're looking for something more comprehensive, a book called The Ultimate Guide To Choosing a Medical Specialty is not too bad, though it's American in focus. It talks more about the day-to-day aspects of the specialties as well as the personality types that tend to be drawn to the varoius specialites.

Take care.
