Guest triplefudgebrownie
OK, I'm asking this question because I might get permanent residency in the States while doing my undergrad in Canada, so I might apply to US med schools. I've heard stories about Canadian marks being way deflated compared to the US, is this really true? And if it is, do US med schools take this into account when considering the admission of someone who's done their undergrad in Canada, or not? Guest chenzy
I'm not sure how muh truth there is to this and I would think that this is med school dependent. I have actually heard that Canadian marks are INFLATED in some cases when compared to US schools.
Guest strider2004
Comparing OMSAS and AAMC marks, your OMSAS GPA will be lower than the AAMC equivalent, so yes, when you apply to the US, you will end up with a higher GPA on your US applicant than your Ontario one. This is especially true for lower marks.
