DMD
I think there are more than 300 applicants
markbird
I'm also applying to ubc. I would guess 300 ppl will apply. Does anyone know the carving cut off for ubc interview? I got 14 for carving with aa and pat both 20. I am general biol major with 80.7 average over 4 years at UBC, do I have a chance for interview? ubc is the only school I applied to, so I'm kindda nervous. I hope we get to find out about the interview soon.

toothfairy
Crap! I may just be screwed, I have a 3.5 and a 19 AA and 19 Pat and 23 Carving...think I have a chance?!?! I have no idea what a 3.5 is when they make it a percentage, but I'm starting to think I cannot quite compete with 300+ applicants! Aw well, I'm crossing my fingers... markbird
I have no idea how this 4.0 gpa thing works either. Never seen it at UBC. Is 3.5/4.0 similar to (3.5 / 4.0 x 100%) = 87.5%?
lecture3waves
Nope. They use the conversion chart on the omsas page. Percentage ranges are assigned values on a four point scale and then averaged. Specifically, 4.0 = 90-100% 3.9 = 85-90% 3.7 = 80-85% 3.3 = something - 80% etc.
DMD
I got in with a 14 in carving.. (probably because I only used 2 soaps to practice).. which may be comforting to some of you..but again, that was before, with fewer people applied to the dentistry. I belive the notification for interview will be sent out soon... good luck everyone!!
