Sketch

Hi,

I've got two questions:

In filling out the autobiographical sketch, is it necessary to list formal education? It seems superfluous given that schools will receive our transcripts.

Also, was anyone in a similar situation as I am - An activity I would REALLY like to list was something I did years and years ago, and I can no longer track down a verifier for this activity. All people at the school have retired or passed away, and I have NO IDEA how to get a hold of anyone that was involved with this activity years ago. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

<title>"Research"</title>

<pagetext>In Ottawa's submission, it states that research done as part of course work does not count and that publications that are submitted/in preparation but not accepted does not count either. However, I would like to include these items in my sketch but, Ottawa's questionaire links to it. What should I do? Ottawa doesn't seem too interested in replying to emails....

<title>research</title>

<pagetext>Hey! I have a question about lab research. I volunteered at a lab last summer and did odd jobs, mostly helping other students in the lab with their projects. This summer I had a paid position with the same supervisor and I had my own project. How should I enter this into my sketch? Under "research" or "volunteer"? Also, should I separate the 2 years as two different entires, since I was given a different role each time?

<title>My Application Conundrum</title>

<pagetext>This is my first post. and i'm looking forward to see what kind of feedback i'll be receiving.

i'm knee deep in the application process and i've got a conundrum. I attended Laval University as part of the gov. sponsored summer language bursary program. Free accommodation and education in Quebec City, i couldn't pass it up.

My goal in attending was to learn conversational French. I was in the middle of my Masters and could care less about the letter grade i got in classes. Well i ended up with a D average.

So the question is this. Do I have to include this experience in my academic history? The courses don't go towards any of my degrees. It was a great experience, and i'm not ashamed of my mark. The problem is that the D greatly drops my cGPA and i'd hate to miss out on an interview just because of one summer class bring me in beneath the GPA cut-off.

To include or not include, that is the question??

Any experience applicants or students with wise words??

Thanks

Thomas

<title>Comments about verifiers?</title>

<pagetext>About giving comments about the verifiers (for school submissions), I'm not sure whether to give any or not. This is from the instruction sheet:

Queen's says:

Include the verifier¡¦s full name, address & tel no. and the activity to which they relate.

Mac says:

The Verification Reference List must not contain a description of the activity/example.

Any help is appreciated!

<title>REF. procedure?</title>

<pagetext>Hi, I have a question regarding the submission of the three ref. letters. OK, from what I interpret from the description, I have to provide the info of mailing addresses, names, titles and positions about the three referees. And I will have to submit the whole COMPASS application prior to sep 15th, after I submit all the info in COMPASS, OMSAS will mail the confidential assessment forms to each of the three referees, and they will have to fill up the forms and mail them back to OMSAS.

Am I getting it right? Or should I ask my referees to print out the forms, fill them up and mail them to OMSAS before my COMPASS submission?
