Dr.Notyet
Hey! I've been reading these boards for a long time but have only just registered... better late then never I guess. I wrote the MCAT in August of 2003. I was wondering if anyone knew when the last admission cycle would be that I could apply using this MCAT score? Would it be Oct. 2007 or Oct. 2008? Also I was wondering what people felt about the writing sample: I had a PS13/BS12/VR9/WS M. Not so happy about the M and I don't know if this is worth rewriting for or not? Thanks for any input! JewelLeigh
I'm not sure about the expiry date part. With respect to re-writing the MCAT just for the writing sample, it depends where you want to apply. Some schools have cut-offs for the writing sample so if you wish to be considered at these schools you'd likely have to re-write. However, for an application to Dal, I definitely would not re-write. Dal does not take the WS into official consideration for scoring and thus while they may consider it, I don't think it will have a significant impact on the success of your application. Your PS, BS and VR scores are enough to meet both the Maritime and Non-Maritime cut-offs and your total score of 34 would be a huge asset for the academic portion of your application at Dal. Dal07
For Dal, your MCAT score is good for 5 years: http://admissions.medicine.dal.ca/faqs.htm#fq03
Tapps73
Hello, If you are applying to Dal, the M isn't that bad. I got in this year with a 29L. I didn't want to redo the MCAT so I took an english writing course and did really well in it. It worked for me, Good luck
