Working during medical school

A general question for those who were employed part-time during medical school (actually during the school year). How many hours did you work/week and how, looking back, did it affect (if at all) your chances of obtaining a competitive residency?

I worked in first and second year. 1-2 shifts a week at a restaurant (about 10 hours most weeks). I didn't really want a competitive residency but I don't think working affected me academically...although since I usually worked Saturdays it made it difficult to do social things with my class mates.
