Does anyone have any idea of the GPA requirments for Australian medical schools. Perferably out of a 9 scale or percent. As well, is there anyone that has gone, or was ever interested in going to an Australian medical school. Even though Canada would be my first choice to study medicine, I am going to apply to the Australian schools as well:)

You're wasting your time applying. Better to go to England (the Int'l med school based in Cambridge, then transfer to another in a smaller cheaper town) or the Caribbean (even cheaper). English degrees have the best int'l recognition.

I would be cautious when listening to others (to the first person posting) first of all if you followed Yaz's instructions and picked England over Ireland. I attend a medical school in Australia, and again if you went to England you have to ask yourself would you want to stay there?

Your likely response: No, because basically of the specialists I know (in Canada) are from England. They hate the system there and say there is no room for advancement. Once you get stuck in a house job you are stuck there for a long time....

So it's not all about "international reputation" (though I beg to differ, because I think that Aussie schools have very high reputations) but about the fact that after working hard for 4-5-6 years, whatever your program length is, would you really want to come back to be treated as a second class doctor? Australia offers you the opportunity to stay and practice. England unfortunately would not make a good place to settle down if you did choose that route.

So be wise when you choose your medical school, because even though you may want to come back now, its not that simple!!
