Full-time studies requirement for Ottawa

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you could please provide with some input on the three years of full-time studies requirement for Ottawa. Perhaps some of you have been in the same boat as me.

1. If a student has taken the equivalent of 5 full-courses in a year, but those 5 courses are not evenly distributed, is the year still considered a full-time year by Ottawa? I have heard from a couple sources that you need 4 courses per semester in a year to have that year be considered as full time, but what if you have <4 courses in one semester but >6 in another semester of the same year? My university doesn't really run on "semesters"; we have a combination of full-year and half-year courses, and not all courses are available each semester (that was the main reason for the imbalance).

2. How does Ottawa take pass/fail courses into account (for prereqs and non-prereqs)? If you have some pass/fail courses out of the 5 full-courses in a year, is that still considered a full-time year?

Thank-you for your help!
