rogerroger
Won't it be funny if McCain somehow pulls out a win? Haha can you just imagine all the Barack supporters just standing there like . It would be amusing... I don't think the world would be radically different because of it... The world is economically f-ed either way in the short term in my opinion. All this election really determines is who is going to be captain of a sinking ship. I think it is pretty much just time to just bunker down and hope Canada weathers the storm better than the other guys. Barack cannot stop the the economic repercussions nor can any other man or woman on the planet. Yet, he will take the blame. After four years sitting out the crap storm the Republicans will be back with some new face and Barack will take a pounding in four years due the economic recession or depression he has piloted the states through, which may or may not be worse because of him... Eitherway, I don't understand the enthusiasm surrounding Barack. After following the political situation down south for a long time neither candidate is very strong nor meets the requirements to deal with the economic turmoil the world in entering... Hooray, Barack is maybe better than Bush and maybe McCain... Pretty hurtin bar to set don't you think? Barack is weak experience wise, harps about change about change... McCain has experience but represents Bush policy on a lite version... Terrific choices when some think the world might be teetering on the brink of a 1929... The only thing historic about Nov. 4 2008 will be a black man will be elected president. Which is cool, but it highly unlikely Barack is some "savior" arriving after eight years of Brush... People need a reality check in terms of what this election really means. It is pretty entertaining TV though...
mrgreek
lol... ok...well first of all... barack will be in power for 8 years... (if he wins this time around)... the republicans are going to be divided after this election...in fact they already are... romney's people are undermining mccain cause he picked palin everyday...all those "mccain supporters" calling her a diva and all that, are romney's people... and honestly...mccain ****ed up, he had a good chance if he picked romney, cause like it or not, the man knew how to make money.... now... the world will be ****ed short term... barack won't take that hit in 4 years even if it goes into a depression...the blame has already been placed...on bill clinton and bush...(the reason barack hasnt been compaining with clinton...cause he hasnt asked him...clinton said it himself... clinton was responsible for laying the groundword of this housing mess, with greenspan)... now... "After following the political situation down south for a long time neither candidate is very strong nor meets the requirements to deal with the economic turmoil the world in entering... ".... your not following it close enough... barack is the only one (other than ron paul before him) who said its gonna be tough, and the average person is gonna have to work hard and toughen up, and tighten their belt... as for the enthusiasm here in canada about him... he represents our ideals (as a majority)... (side note: most changes need the house and senate... this is where you may/probbaly will see hillary clinton push for healthcare like we have it here... obama cant do it on his own... "Hooray, Barack is maybe better than Bush and maybe McCain... Pretty hurtin bar to set don't you think? Barack is weak experience wise"... id love for you to explain a lot more... how much experience do you want? the amount palin has? or would you like someone with experience enough... that he can pursuade the ethics committee not to punish him further for accepting bribes in the keating 5... the fact a man like mccain is running for president with that kind of experience, and history is amazing,,,hed get crucified if that happened up here... barack will be a "savior" economy wise...he'll end the iraq war... honestly, the americans dont care about the war on terrorism, or about saddam hussein, or protecting isreal, they care about their wallets...now that it cost them money...now that bush has taken the national debt from 5 trillion...to 10 trillion... they want out... they want money... and barrack will deliver on that promise... mccain will stay...spend money in iraq...thats where the money goes... Won't it be funny if McCain somehow pulls out a win? Haha can you just imagine all the Barack supporters just standing there like . It would be amusing... dan0105
no need to bash the Law's gay/terrorist/AIDS ways, some people on this forum might actually fall into one or more of those categories, and that's just not nice really. I figure it wont matter who wins the election, even if Barack does win, I doubt congress will let him change the important things that actually need changing. And besides, China makes all of our stuff, so in reality, they own ALL of us because we are dependent on them.

rogerroger
barack will be a "savior" economy wise...he'll end the iraq war... honestly, the americans dont care about the war on terrorism, or about saddam hussein, or protecting isreal, they care about their wallets...now that it cost them money...now that bush has taken the national debt from 5 trillion...to 10 trillion... they want out... they want money... and barrack will deliver on that promise... mccain will stay...spend money in iraq...thats where the money goes... Seriously, who gives a crap about Iraq. Have you heard much about it lately? The troop surge has worked this isn't 2005 anymore. Afghanistan is where there is trouble. Also the economic troubles run far far deeper than the mere expense of waging wars. It comes from the corporate culture in the states and from the lack of regulation. Barack will try to change things sure. But the states has already jumped off the economic cliff. One way or another it will hit the ground. You are delusional if you think Barack won't take the hit for an economic depression. When people are jobless and he is in power and his changes are not making jobs available to the average American do you think his base will be pleased? And you better bet there will be less jobs just based on the economic reality of today. The fact is clear. Barack has made it for he has huge expectations he must fulfill. These expectations are so huge that it is close to impossible to fulfil. Those who are held high on mere promises will likely in the end fall hard. History has shown this time and time again. The republicans are not that divided. If you want to see a political party that is broken up check out our Canadian Liberals. Four years of Democratic rule will quickly get the republicans in order anyways... Remember the United States is by its nature and history is a conservative nation and thus Republican. Barack is being elected in many states to punish the Republicans more than because of what his political views might be... The US hates socialism, and big government. Wars and all that other stuff matter little at the end of the day, that is why Bush was elected twice. That is why the Republicans have a excellent shot in four years. Barack knows his win is based on the majority wanting Republicans to take a time out after a rough eight years. That's why 99% of what he harping away about change and more change and then change about the change... It isn't so much what Barack stands for it is what he is not... The reason the Republicans lost control of congress and the senate is because of the war in Iraq. The reason Iraq is stable is not because of the surge. It's stable because of deals made among the different tribal factions that have lured them away from Al Qaeda in Iraq. Anyway, this is an entirely new electorate. It is not only to punish the Republicans but also out of inspiration of what Barack Obama stands for. I definitely agree, I doubt this is transforming the US into a permanent democratic electorate... but it does show that people want to try something new. I think you underestimate the positive democratic vote. SIDENOTE: CNN just transmitted a HOLOGRAM!! It's so cool!

These expectations are so huge that it is close to impossible to fulfil. Those who are held up high on mere promises without any real previous action will likely in the end fall hard. History has shown this time and time again. The republicans are not that divided. If you want to see a political party that is broken up check out our Canadian Liberals. Four years of Democratic rule will quickly get the republicans in order anyways. Remember the United States is by its nature and history is a conservative nation and thus Republican. Wars and all that other stuff matter little at the end of the day, that is why Bush was elected twice. That is why the Republicans have a excellent shot in four years. Barack knows his votes are cast more for giving the Republicans a time out rather than for what his political views are... That's why 99% of what he says is change change change, lets change the change about the change... LOL... I actually, actually question your thought processing and how you interpreted what I said. I don't care about the surge, I don't care about the actual war. The people don't care about Iraq, or the fight on terrorism, I couldn't agree more with you. They are detached from it, it's not on the news anymore. WHAT THEY DO care about is the economy. The cost of the Iraq war is epic. It's passing 1 trillion. A TRILLION. The Bailout package is costing ~850 billion, and will end up costing more than 1 TRILLION. It is the fault of deregulation. Everyone knows that. It's the result of greed, everyone knows that. That's why Barack won't be put to blame on that. Afghanistan is where I am in trouble? I don't even know where your going with that... The economy is going to go into a depression? I know Democrats are calling it a recession (cause it benefits them), and the Republicans call it a downturn... I think your the first I've heard that it's heading into a Depression... LOL...If you actually follow it...Barack has only really promised "change," and promises to "invest" in other things. I'll give it to the McCain campaign, that Obama's plans are quite thin...thats the beauty of it, he doesn't have to deliver on everything. He has ALREADY said that there will be cuts to his plan because of the disaster they are in now (such as renewable energies amongst others). Those held on high promises not falling hard (poltically)= JFK, Trudeau, De Gaulle... I'm being picky cause you made a generalization... I couldn't agree more with what you said about the liberal party...I said that on page 3 or 4... "aka...the problems with the liberals... he suffer a small defeat and u run for the hills...have bob the ndp rae undermining you, while ignatieff also undermining you...meanwhile those two hate each other...ahahahahah...what a cluster ****....then theres kennedy...the only reason hes even "up there" cause he helped dion win...hes got no other bargaining chip....who switches leadership so many times? what a bunch of clowns"... I called it a cluster fack... I also said there are some divisions in the party...like always...when someone loses an election...you'll see infighting...human nature no? Not all conservatives are evangelical christians... heck...mccain isnt really what he's running on this election...he was never strong anti-abortion, was for gi-bills... I didn't say they were gonna split or anything... but it's bittersweet for Romney...or Huckabee for that matter... Watch Huckabee's interviews, or his former adivsor on CNN Ed Rollins...they aren't 100% in bed with McCain... I agree that America is a center-right nation (they aren't a right wing nation)... I also agree that Barack is getting 'elected' because its an act to punish the Republicans... that's why the Democrats should cherish it... he is more or less running off Clintons legacy as well... that's the only reason the Democrats do well... they are seen as fiscal conservatives now...unlike the republicans... (remember...from 5 trillion...to 10 trillion national debt...thats a story in itself)
