rocky001
i am wondering whether UBC accepts redoing a class in undergrad at some other university . in my case kwantlen university ??lets say you had a C at first shot,in the second shot A+ would they take the average or the highest ... any comments will be appreciated .. funkmunk
they take the first passed attempt (ie its useless to try again since you already got a C). They'll only take the average of the two if you fail a pre-req and re-take it.
rocky001
but i heard this from someone that they let you retake a class but the harder level of the course or something ? is this correct or a rumour ...
TankMasterFlex
I'm pretty sure funkmunk is correct, if you retake a class that you passed, they will only look at that mark. If you retake a class that you failed, they average them (a fail counts as 0%, so the best you can hope for after the average is 50%). I've only heard this from people on the forum and not actually from UBC...
funkmunk
I believe what you are referring to is the 10 year rule. If it was 10 years or more since you took the pre-req, you can opt to have it dropped and, in place of it, you will need to either re-take it or you can use a credit from a similar course that is a more advanced level. If you choose this option, you are not allowed to cherry pick the courses you'd like dropped, it means that, for example, say you have fullfilled your first year english, bio, chem, and physics pre-reqs all that year and choose to invoke the rule, then you lose all of those credits. Let me know if my explanation made sense, its a bit of a tricky rule. Cheers!
