Research Questions

Recommended Posts

Yes, most of the time they referred to my application and asked me to talk briefly about a research project whose title they presumably found most interesting. There was one program that asked a couple more questions to test my understanding of the project, but it was also a stress-style interview overall. Note: if you are applying to a more research-focused program/specialty (like Clinician Investigator), or you are selling yourself as a future academic researcher, you should expect a more thorough level of questioning.

A good rule of thumb is to know everything you stick on your application. I had reasonably low-stress interviews and I got asked questions from all over my application, even some less-prominent ECs. Re: research, I found my questions were usually spurred by their own interests, and the questions could be very broad or insanely specific, depending on how familiar they were with the area.
