bittersweet08
Following what someone did in the Mac thread... To help out those on the waitlist, if you are declining an offer of admission for Western, can you please post here. Thanks
bahrein3
so, no one is declining?!?
supafield
Lol you may have missed the boat.... there are plenty of pm101 users that exist for may 15th only and once accepted somewhere are never seen again... I'm sure there are plenty of decliners, just none coming around here...

I'm sure there are plenty of decliners, just none coming around here... Plus to decline that means you have multiple offers. If you have multiple offers there is a good chance you are now (in the standard neurotic premed way) carefully evaluating the schools and not really commiting to one until closer to the deadline. Why would we people stop overthinking things now? Don't take it to mean there will be no movement

Dante
I'm a year too late to be declining an offer (though I can't tell you how much I would like the option of declining to write my exams...) BUT I nevertheless have good news for all of you waitlisters/future applicants: http://communications.uwo.ca/com/media_newsroom/media_newsroom_stories/announcment_of_new_medical_school_spaces_20090520444323/
mrgreek
That's awesome news... there should be an update on the website as to how its broken down. I think its 12 or 17 to be for this upcoming entrance year... Edit: I'll tag this news article in here too... http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/May2009/21/c6065.html

Bring back 10,10,10! Symmetry is much nicer anyway.

skye
so does this mean a number of those waitlisted will be offered acceptances based on this decision to increase the number of seats, or that the acceptances already sent out took this into account? mrgreek
i don't think they factored this information in the first round... but feel free to call the admissions office for absolute truth... or when they will start sending those acceptances out

tyro
Wow, that's great news! 24 spaces is a lot! I hope they split them evenly between swomen and non-swomen, but realistically I'm guessing they'll give more seats if not all of them to the swomen people. But still, it gives me more hope. Thanks for updating us mrgreek and Dante. update: http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/news/index.php?article=000729
reverse_transcriptase
why would the majority be going to swomen?
Dante
there's only one rank list; pick yourselves up! 12 new spots for next year means SWOMEN or not, 12 of you should be expecting a call VERY SOON!
supafield
The rankings are already made.... the Swomen's have got the bonus they're getting already.... If the next X spaces on the waitlists are Swomen, they'll take Swomen applicants if they're non-Swomen then they'll take non-Swomen applicants. How one can on the Western waitlist can make new spots for September seem like bad news is beyond me..... lol I sit on the Queen's waitlist and they've been given extra spots years ago but won't grow the class because they don't have the facilities...
