Summer Employment Before 1st Year

Does anyone have any advice for making decent money for the summer prior to starting med school in August? I'm also a new RN but I'm having a really tough time finding employers who would hire me for just the summer (or what's left of the summer).

I wonder if you can do clinics as an RN - blood donation, etc. Or even sign on as a casual? I'm sure lots of people are going on vacations now, I know my EMS service is overflowing with extra shifts.

I've always been advised to lie low and just chill, but I can uderstand that not being an option.

Teaching for MCAT prep pays well - or even the tutoring side of things via Kaplan or Oxford or Princeton Review. Not sure where they're at with things in terms of summer courses, but it would be something to look into.

Homes for the elderly often like to have someone medically trained overnighting. Also nursing homes, staff take time off and go on vacation.

Accredited government institutions where you can apply for a summer job.As i know,they prefer students as well to help them in supporting their education needs.

It is pretty tough finding a summer job in this economy. If you don't find anything, you might want to do some volunteer work to stay busy. I've been volunteering this summer and it's a resume-builder in these tough times. Good luck in your search though!
