Dat!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm a newbie to dentistry and I'd like a better sense of how well I need to do on my DAT to be safe.... Sorry guys, this is prob common sense to most of you...

So I understand there are 4 sections to the Canadian DAT.

Can someone describe the scoring scale?

Basically, for each of the 4 sections, what's the scoring scale like, and what's a competitive score in each section?

For example, for MCATs, each of the sections (excluding the writing sample) is on a 1-15 scale, and a score above 10 is competitive.

(Can you tell I am a pre-med? :P)

OH YES! and another question from this newbie...

Do you need Reference letters when applying to dental schools? (U of T and UWO specifically)

Thanks so much!

U of T doesn't even accept reference letters, UWO does, however at UWO the letters are not mandatory, and through the grapevine I've heard they're not even looked at. Other Canadian schools to require reference letters from science professors.

a bit below 20 is enough to get an interview, and once you're granted the interview, i've heard the DAT isn't so important - so don't kill yourself over the dat. UWO and U of T do not care about carving marks at all.
