QuestionMan
Hi everyone, Im a Canadian studying medicine in the UK and will be writing the MCCEE pretty soon. Does anyone have any tips for preparation materials besides Toronto notes in terms or Qbanks of practice exams/questions? Also how long do people typically study for this exam as a rough guide? Cheers!

ploughboy
To match to a residency position in Canada, you need to go through CaRMS (Canadian Residency Matching System). http://www.carms.ca It is difficult for IMGs to match to specialist positions in Canada. There are only 47 total neurology positions in the entire country, three of which are at U Calgary. There are only five dedicated IMG neurology spots in Canada, none of which are in Calgary. https://w1c.e-carms.ca/pdws/jsp/pd.do?d=902&p=p3&m=1 The CaRMS match runs in two iterations, or "rounds". In Alberta, graduates from non-LCME accredited schools (essentially, IMGs who did not attend medical school in Canada or the USA) cannot apply to residency positions until the second iteration of CaRMS. So, if one or more of those three spots is unfilled after the first iteration of CaRMS you potentially would be able to apply (assuming you have been assessed by the Alberta International Medical Graduate program - http://www.aimg.ca) http://carms.ca/eng/r1_eligibility_prov_e.shtml#alberta Note that CaRMS only runs once a year. Registration for the second iteration of CaRMS opens soon ( http://carms.ca/eng/r1_2ndIteration_e.shtml ). However, based on the nature of your question, I suspect you won't realistically be able to apply for the 2010 match. If you aren't a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, that will complicate things further to the point of potentially making it impossible for you to apply until you have obtained at least PR status. Certain countries (eg Saudi Arabia) sometimes sponsor their citizens to come to Canada for specialist training, but I do not know if UCalgary participates in this. For further information about Calgary's program specifically, see: https://w1c.e-carms.ca/pdws/jsp/pd.do?p=807056&f=1&m=

Bina-S
Hi, I am using this MCCEE Qbank for last couple of months and I am finding their system very easy to use and their questions quality is really good with detailed explanations. I also got this coupon recently from them after registering on their website which says 30% off but actually it is giving 70% off, I used it and extended my subscription for more months, use it before its gone or fixed!! http://mccee.ca Coupon Code: 30OFFTOTAL
