$175 confirmation deposit?

The University of Alberta requires a $175 confirmation deposit (paid by August 14) to confirm your intention to attend classes in the fall. If you don't pay these fees, they drop your registration. http://www.registrar.ualberta.ca/ro.cfm?id=289

 

As MD students, do we have to pay this $175 deposit? Or is it assumed that our $1000 initial deposit will cover the $175?

 

I'd hate to have my registration dropped..

I have heard nothing about this $175 nor have I received any emails regarding it. I would think that our $1000 deposit would cover that.

If you go to "My Class Schedule" in beartracks, it should say your registration is confirmed.

I inquired with Marlene last year - the $1000 deposit DOES NOT cover the confirmation deposit.

 

The $1000 is for the FOMD to secure your spot in the class. The $175 is for the University itself.

 

Both deposits go towards the total tuition paid.

"Students who pay a similar deposit to confirm acceptance of admission to a quota program do not pay an additional Confirmation Deposit." http://www.registrar.ualberta.ca/ro.cfm?id=581

 

but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give the office a call and find out for sure.

Same here. I think see-those-stars found the fine print that applies to us.
