smtus
I was hoping someone would be able to comment on the different ENT programs across the country in terms of general quality, areas of strength and learning environment. Thank you!
juicyprunes
wow...the surgery/surgical subspecialty forum is so quiet... Anyways, from talking to residents/staff, the top programs are: U of A - high volume, lots of head and neck, all subspecialties represented, operative experience at early stage UWO - excellent teaching, interdisciplinary research, all subspecialties represented U of T - biggest program, lots of fellows, lots of research, all subspecialties represented Dal - similar to U of A in size, great teaching, young staff, all subspecialties represented
physiology
UBC - good program, but hard to get OR time once you complete residency, unless you go to a remote / rural community. Is this similar across Canada? Physio
Coach
UBC - good program, but hard to get OR time once you complete residency, unless you go to a remote / rural community. Is this similar across Canada? Physio I've read several postings that point to difficulty getting OR time in Canada for some physicians. And we often hear about a shortage of doctors and patients who face long waiting times before getting surgery. I was wondering: besides there being a doctor shortage in Canada, is there also a shortage of Operating Rooms in Canada?
A-Stark
From what I've heard there's a shortage of operating room nurses in Canada (and, often, a shortage of funding from hospitals/district health authorities).
ontariostudent
Maybe we should fix that.
