thesis - research?

Is there a general consensus on whether or not a thesis goes under research??

It seems like the logical place for it to go, as that is exactly what it is... but then there's that line that says anything taken as part of a course isn't research... someone I know emailed OMSAS and they said to put it under formal education... but do most people put it under research?

I believe most people do put it under research. I think the part about taking it as a course is if you're taking a "lab" class like research methods or something where you do lab work and take class tests.
