Like every doctor has to propose his/her own salary? Hi there! A lot (most) of doctors base their income on fee for service, so it isn't really salary based at all. The income would depend on the number of patients seen/types of procedures done. There is a wide variability incomes as a result, even among seemingly similar practices. The amount charges per procedure is however fixed per province.
DNA Doc
In academic settings, you rarely do fee-for-service. Salary can be based in part on your research grants, how much teaching you agree to do, etc. There can be a fair bit of negotiation involved.
