2yrs of Undergrad or College program

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands. My undergrad has been very mediocre thus far (cGPA of 2.3...my first two years more or less did me in.). And now after graduation I find myself not knowing exactly what to do. I was considering the clinical research program at Humber. However, I'm not sure about how useful the program is beyond throwing me into the work industry. I'm not sure if I can use that education for Graduate studies or Medical School admission. My other option was to do another two years full time of Undergrad studies, and apply to universities like Western and Queens (who look at your most recent two years) for Med school. Do you guys think it's worth doing another two years of schooling? Or has my undergrad cGPA more or less nullified that option? Let me thank you guys in advance for helping me with my problem.

Hi there! Hate to respond with more questions, but I think these would really help.

What was your average over the last two years of your degree (the ones that are actually considered for grad school at most places). Does your current degree - oh what is that in actually - give you an alternative careers you are interested in. How commit to going to medical school are you (would you consider going outside of the country, even if there was increased expense or reduce specialization options). Are you interested in research and if so what areas. How strong was, if you took it, your MCATs.

Hey there.

Sorry for the late reply, and I'll be glad to answer your questions.

Unfortunately my avg. over the last two years is a little below 3.0. I'm not sure what it is over the top of my head, but I believe it's somewhere around the 2.93 mark

Does your current degree - oh what is that in actually - give you an alternative careers you are interested in.

While my degree in life sciences (specialist degree from uoft) does give me the option to pursue basic level research associate jobs in the market, the plan for me was to one way or the other, go to medical school eventually.

Actually I was considering Saba university. I hear from someone who went there that the residency placements for saba are quite good

Are you interested in research and if so what areas. How strong was, if you took it, your MCATs.

I am interested in research, primarily pathology stuff. Unfortunately graduate programs for pathology require a gpa that's about as competitive with med school GPA requirements. My MCAT score when I took it last was 27P (9/9/9). I was planning on taking it again before applying to Saba.
