soggybread
I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this, and even better, if anyone's done an 8 month work-term before, and how this worked out for them...
AndreaM
I actually did a 12 month co-op term and it was really good. Because I was there for a year I was able to take on more long term projects and they were willing to train me for more things. It didn't adversely affect my study habits and I actually enjoyed having the year off from full-time course work. I took three courses while I was working for fun as well. Starling
I did two 8-month co-op terms. It delayed graduation by a year, but I think it was well worth it. If I hadn't gotten all that work experience, it would have been a lot harder to find a job after graduation. It also got me interested in research; I didn't really like lab courses and presumed I wouldn't like working in a lab that much, but I did! As I'm sure you've noticed while perusing the forums, a lot of people don't get in to med right away! At least if you do the co-op, it'll be easier to get a job or into a grad program if you don't get into med straight out of undergrad.
