Cegep Help!

Hi, I'm starting cegep next semester but i've been placed in the Pathways to science program because of a sad 69% in math as the required mark to enter in sciences is 70% in chemistry, physics and math... So i've heard that universities want you finish your sciences in 2 years clean. Does this put me in trouble for my medical school dreams? Would I still be able to be accepted in a QC university? If not, what are the requirements in the rest of Canada/US (keep in mind i dont realy want to do a bachelor degree in university before)? And any other cegep/university advice would be appreciated! Thank You!

You can still apply to Université Laval.

Good luck for CEGEP ! :)

I never heard about a required mark to be accepted in sciences...

Yes you may be discriminated if you do your CEGEP in more than 2 years. Even people who make thier CEGEP in 2 years with summer classes (just to be less charged at fall) could be refused in most of the faculty.

If I was you, I would check for another CEGEP because u should be accepted even with your 69% in math.

Good luck !

I'm not sure about the other Quebec universities, but McGill would not be an option for you (unless you have a good reason for taking more than 2 years/4 semesters to complete your DEC: major health problems, major family problems, you're an Olympic athlete...)

In my school, people needed at least 70% in the prerequisites, but some people managed to convince the school they are as good as the other students :)

How about re-doing your pre-reqs in Adults,it won't interfer with your DEC path so you'll be able to apply in all Universities?

Just a guess,i don't know if it would work though,can someone confirm?:o

I don't think it is possible. Even if it was, I'm pretty sure students wouldn't get great R-scores because of the strength of the groups (people who want to apply for pre-med usually attend Cegep)

Wait,uhm...,the prereqs he's talking about are the highschool ones right?

The 69% in maths in from Sec school ?If so,he can re-take the course at "L'école des adultes" and try to get a better grade, then get in Cegep the normal way instead of doing a pathway to sciences.

In most Cegeps,Sc.nat. is undercompetitive and they will accept you with a 65% in pretty much every courses.

But that's just my thought,if he's talking about something else, then i really failed my statement on this one :)

Its ok im gonna pay lots of $$ and do it during the summer :( hopefully i get over 70% and get in straight in to sciences... And one last question, theres a french cegep called gerald godin it takes everybodys passing the prequisets=>chemistry, math and physics and has a high r score average and guessing that i'll have to do my med somewhere other than mcgill because of the competition level would it be better to do my sciences in french or in english?

We're on the same boat. I'm at Rosemont and it's my second choice 'cause I'm doing my Physic "aux adultes" just because I don't take it at the beginning of the year. I wish you good luck, but remember that's not the CEGEP that will grant you a high "cote R". It's you.
