xi88
Hi. Does anyone know what is the process called of acclimatising an animal to research procedures? When you order animals, they are often shipped over long distances. During shipment, they are often housed in cardboard boxes for days, and are very stresses. When they arrive at your facility, they are in a new environment, and take some time to get used to the change and "de-stress". This period of "de-stressing" is acclimatization. In research protocols, animals need to be acclimatized before being used in experiments because an animals that are stressed can be physiologically different, and therefore alter results. It is generally acceptable that animals be allowed to acclimatize for a week after arrival before being used for experiments.
