Do I qualify for IP?

The rule is 12 months to the start of the school year. So if you moved to QC on August 20th, 2010, you will qualify for IP status for med1 in August 20th, 2011. And thus you can submit your application as an IP on Nov. 15th, 2010.

Actually, they have this thing on their website that says :

An important reminder about your Québec residency status

As an applicant to Medicine, Québec residency status must be fully established (not provisionally) by the application deadline. Therefore, where it reads "before the beginning of the (current) semester" or "before the end of the (current) semester", you should read "before the application deadline". Changes of citizenship or residency after the application deadline will not be considered.

(from http://www.mcgill.ca/medadmissions/applying/applicant-categories)

The 12 months have to be consecutive, and before January 15.

Check http://www.mcgill.ca/legaldocuments/overview/medapplicants/.

Whats important is you stay in QC for 12 of the 18 months preceding the start of the school year. And you are not a full-time student in an QC CEGEP or university. You could be a part time student here if you want. Call Michel Dansereau if you want to confirm. Don't make mistakes on your med app based on hearsay on this forum.
