ladykilla421
Ive decided to switch programs from BSc to BA with a major in latin and english studies. I was hoping to get into a program with relatively easy courses (compared to my BSc courses) so I could save any major efforts for my science prereqs and the such. Has anyone studied latin?! Ive always been fascinated with it but I have no idea what Im getting into. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! If you took any latin classes; did you enjoy them? Were they relatively easy or were they challenging? Thanks!
future_doc
Challenging unless languages are your thing.
thatonekid
The courses will only be easier if arts is your thing. I find that the marking is subjective in more classes (than in science courses) and so getting good grades (like As and A+s) may be more difficult. Der Kaiser
I took first year Latin and it was very easy to attain high grades if you did the work. That said if the upper year courses have an essay component to them it is likely going to be hard to achieve anything above an A. Having been a TA I can tell you that it is almost unheard of to give out an A+ on an essay. As for English I have never taken it, but from what I've been told by others that have achieving more than an A-/A is difficult. This may be university dependent though.
