TheBoss
All I do is print the prof's notes, write stuff in during lectures, and then try learn as much as I can of what's there. Works well for me.
Karma
There are seminars in university usually teaching you how to make resumes, study effectively, etc.
Curi0user
It depends on the class and the prof. Im an avid note taker and usually what I write is on the test so you just evenually develop a feel for it. Its hard to explain but if you feel like something isnt common sense.. Write it down. Works well for me.+1 This is what I did as well. Currently, I'm trying to change my strategy a bit (due to the volume of info we get each day), but there are slight cues that profs give as to what is important and what isn't as necessary to know. FT4
If you are a voracious note taker like myself, a voice recorder is a godsend (if the prof. is ok with it)! Due to past experiences with profs who test on ridiculous minutiae (anyone here taken BIO103 at Queen's?) I have been conditioned to write every detail not covered on the lecture slides out. The recorder helps me go over stuff I missed. Don't record lectures thinking you will listen to everything for review though! We'll see how this changes in the coming years...
