Dino Posted November 14, 2011 Report Share Posted November 14, 2011 Effective way to permanently imunise an offspring but not without risks. I'm a little older than most here and did not get chickenpox vaccination, but caugh it at age 10. Lasted a whole week, with intense itching. Problems associated with actually catching CP include bacterial skin infections from scratching and scarring which, if severe (especially in the face), may change someone's appearance for life. That's not the worst, though. Some people will develop shingles later in life. That being said, as infections go, I would be more concerned if the "donor" carries other pathogens, such as Hep B.
