During my year (last year winter semester), each section had a different bell curve. Luckily, I was in the one where the largest bell curve was granted. Our exam mark was multiplied by 1.6. Midterms were also curved a bit. Other sections had it much worse though, so try your best to have a high grade going into the exam (the exam was BRUTAL).

Also, in regards to NSERC I received two acceptance emails already (one from dept. of Physics the other from dept. of mechanical engineering). I am currently sitting at a 8.2 for gpa but I strongly believe that my high ranking in both departments helped me get it.

Ah ok. I currently have just over an 80 in the course and am praying for the bellcurve but I'm wondering whether it would be enough to get me to a 90. I'll start praying that my peers continue to do poorly for the sake of the curve lol. Am I mean?

Thanks for the info about the NSERC. Which one are you planning on taking?

I learned a new word from a pinned button on someone's backpack yesterday (it was one of 100 pins): "ableism"

So I asked her what it means and she said it's like racism but towards peoples' disability status.

Don't get me started on "cultural appropriation".

Are you guys serious? Pretty ignorant of you to fail to see why ableism can be just as pressing of a matter as other forms of discrimination, especially in healthcare.

It hurts me to see that a number of you "Yorkies" don't appreciate what the social sciences and humanities have to offer. Sure, it may have no "practical" significance in your eyes but it is far from "useless".

I get you guys are pissed with what's going on due to the strike but at least have some respect for others disciplines of academia.

Completely agree. Take a critical disabilities course or heck do some casual reading on the subject and you'll be horrified at some of the injustices and discrimination towards people with disabilities (visible and invisible).

Oh no I'm all for anti-ableism, I was more poking fun at the 100 pins on the backpack. I think it's funny and a little sinister since some people have something to prove, even though I'm a liberal socialist

Not necessarily, haven't you ever heard "I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative"

I was joking :D

One of the things I love about stupid ideologues is how interchangeably they use liberalism, socialism, and communism.

That said, liberal socialist is not the same as socially liberal.
