St. James VS St. Eustatius |Also what accreditation do schools need for CANADA return

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any advice on which school is better?

(St. James Vs. Sint Eustatius)

Also, what accreditation do schools need for us Canadian citizens to return to Canada to practice? Is it MCC? Because St. James has it, but St. Eustatius doesn't.

I wanted to go to AUA or MUA, but I a D+ in o-chem 1 and no ochem-2.. and that'd take a whole year for me to do.:(

(And I can't do big 4 either.. don't have an mcat)

Advice?

Thanks guys.

All foreign schools need to be listed with IMED to be eligible to write MCCEE and apply to residency positions.

All you technically need is to be listed on the IMED/WHO list of medical schools for Canada. This is ironic considering how strict Canada's stance is on IMGs. In the US many states do their own site visits and accreditations of foreign medical schools. If your school isn't on their list you can't get licensed to practice there.

Neither schools you have listed are accredited by any of the US states although for Canada you would technically have a shot at returning.

WHat?!

I thought IMED/WHO gives accreditation to do residency/practice in like 45+ states?

I thought it's only NY, Cali that give separate accreditation.

NY,Cali,Texas,Florida,Ohio,Missouri,Kansas, and possibly others. Many states adopt California's accreditation list and more are starting to go this way.

At any rate, it doesn't matter if you are planning to return to Canada. Except that it should make you suspicious about attending these schools that don't have accreditation by credible third-party organizations.
