Guest sassy101
I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback about rural med burseries. For example, the U of S offers burseries for 2, 3 , 4th year students if they serve in a rural area after completion of med school. They must serve one year for every year the bursery is given. The bursery is also directed toward those interested in family med. I was hoping someone had taken advantage of these or have known someone who has. Are they a good idea or similar to signing ones life away? If anyone can tell some stories or give advice it would be much appreciated.
Guest kosmo14
One thing to note about UofS is that you can opt out once you have completed med school, and then just pay back what they gave you. The rural bursary at the U of S is going to be only $10000 a year while in med school and $25000 each year of family residency, so it isn't as lucrative as it was in the past.
