N.C - notation on transcript

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing it means non-credit? ie. that credit does not contribute to your degree. Read through your transcript guide for its meaning.

If it is indeed non-credit, UofT will automatically drop that as your lowest credit if you qualify for the weighting formula.

This also appears for courses that are in progress when you print your transcript. I think this is meant to show that you didn't withdraw but that you haven't been awarded the credits or the mark for that course.

It also serves a functional purpose in that it doesn't allow you to forge letter and number grades to those courses since NC is written instead of leaving the grade spot blank.

They cannot require grades for courses where there are no grades. And from what you say, it does not affect your GPA. I would imagine, they would require an explanation. When one audits a course, what, if anything, shows up on the transcript?

That is very much school dependent :)
