Definitely hoping to get in, unfortunately not the highest GPA and not the strongest EC's to back it up.

Do you think that only EC's that involve direct work with physios or rehab specialists really get noticed, or does other volunteer and work experience in a related field that may not involve direct rehab work too? I have hardly any shadowing experience, but tons of experience coaching youth sports teams, tutoring, and working with autistic kids. I'm not sure how much this will help me though.

Hi,

From what I was told, you only report whether you have completed 70 hours of either paid or volunteer work with someone/people with a mental, physical or emotional disabilities (don't quote me exactly on that). I am pretty sure it's on the admission site. I was also told by one of the admins that it doesn't really matter if you have done 70 or 200 hours... it all weighs the same.

I am curious to see what the GPAs were/are for those who got in last year... I heard it was pretty high.

I had a 3.9, GPA for UBC, 2000 work exp hrs in a physio clinic, 200 hrs volunteering. Got into everywhere else I applied but there. They are natorious for taking there own students. I have had friends that went there and said the program seemed very unorganized and unproffesional, only had one anatomy class and focus way to much on cardioresp which is useless unless you want to work in a hospital.

Hey Physioprospect, I was wondering if you are a BC resident? On the website it says UBC only takes BC residents into the program. Your application seems too good to have been rejected, and that's the only thing I can think of that may have kept you from getting in. If you are a BC resident, did you make it to the interview stages?

I am a BC resident, I ended up going to Queens. Yes I went to the interviews, felt they went great? So was shocked when I didnt get in. That is usually the thing that puts me ahead of others is my interpersonal and interview skills, so not sure what went wrong. I had a friend with a GPA much lower and said they did terrible on the interview.. i.e. actually not answering some of the questions etc and they got in... so very odd things go on there. They accepted someone a few years ago that had like a 3.3 GPA but there coach got them in. UBC is a joke.
