iPad?

I'll be MS1 starting this August, and I was considering buying an iPad? Do you guys recommend it? I figured I'd rather put the cost of books towards one of those and download ebooks. Anybody care to comment on how useful they found using an ipad, also specs (was considering in the 64gb-128gb range). Also any apps that you found useful?
