medplease
How does one go about applying for observership as a first year medical student? Is there a formal process through your school? Or is it just informal (emailing doctors)?
jock2doc
I set one up at my school just by emailing the physician I wanted to follow. Seemed pretty straight forward.

Was this in the past or for Memorial? I would love to start setting some things up.
jock2doc
At MUN. Not sure if it's the norm but it worked for me.
silvantes
At MUN. Not sure if it's the norm but it worked for me. So did you contact MUN about it and they gave you a list of participating physicians? Or did you contact physicians on your own letting them know you were an incoming med at MUN? If you don't mind letting me know the process you used as I would love to start something early.
jock2doc
There is a list somewhere on the FoM's website. I can't remember exactly where. I just emailed on of the physicians on there.

If you don't mind letting me know the process you used as I would love to start something early. during your first two years at MUN there's actually a shadowing program that someone will coordinate. It generally starts in January of first year. You are matched up to a doctor for a month in a chosen speciality and you can shadow them on your free time (every tuesday afternoon is free) . So I wouldn't worry about setting anything up. There will be lots of different specialities and doctors to choose from
