NOSMHopeful
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew what happens if you possibly know someone who is on the selection committee or an interviewer?
Real Beef
If a reviewer or person on the selection committee knows you in a personal capacity that may influence their ability to make an objective decision on your application they will declare a conflict and will not be a part of reviewing your application. My masters thesis supervisor was also a part of the selection committee, and she wrote me a reference letter for NOSM so she would have had to not partake in grading, commenting on my application. This goes also for interviews ... if an interviewer knows you in a way that would effect their objective decision making (i.e. mother of an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend of yours) they and you can declare a conflict and they will switch. Although interviewers in a interview circuit preview the interviewees so it usually doesnt get to face to face conflicts ... its usually dealt with before it even happens or so is my understanding.
