Rural points

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out how much my rural attributes are going to improve my AGPA. I should be eligible for about half of the coefficient (about 7%ish). So according to the formula (27.3%AGPA + 72.7%MCAT®) X (rural co-efficient if >0) X (academic co-efficient if >0), will my rural attributes essentially increase my AGPA and MCAT scores by 7% each? Yes, I do intend on substantially increasing my math skills prior to the MCAT, but if someone could help me out with this now it would be greatly appreciated :D

You can get a maximum of 13% for your rural coefficient. The qualifying factors are on the supplemental application (http://umanitoba.ca/admissions/media/pdf/medicine_supp_app.pdf - this is an older copy, if someone has a more recent copy that would be great). I meet the criteria for about half of these factors. My AGPA is not great (3.5), so I'm trying to figure out if my rural attributes are going to make me much more competitive.
