Is it tougher to match coming from another Ontario school? For all residency programs due to various factors generally there is a home-school preference, IM included. All else being equal, if it's your goal, it's generally easier to match to your home program. That being said, if you clearly want a certain program and tailor your application around it its certainly possible to match elsewhere. So to make yourself stand out, is it mainly letters of reference and performing well during clerkship (and doing visiting electives at the program you hope to match into?) adk Posted June 19, 2022 Report Share Posted June 19, 2022 it's like back to applying to med school again haha...I wish there was something standardized (equivalent of the USMLE) in canada.
