do we get all statutory holidays off in first year/pre-clerkship?

I wouldn't say you would get stats off in clerkship and residency unless you're on call. It depends on the rotation you're on. I worked Canada Day and Civic Holiday on Hospitalist but wasn't "on call". There were OR days running when I was on ortho in clerkship. I did most recently get Labour Day off while working in a paeds outpatient clinic, but many of my co-residents didn't get the day off. The nice thing is in residency you'll get lieu days for working on stats, but UME does not give a f*** if you work a stat in clerkship (ie you won't get a lieu day and may have to work the stat anyway)
