Since yours is a very specific case, so I think emailing would be best. I would assume they get so many questions that are easily answered each year (e.g., how do I apply to medical school?), so I think your question will be okay! It is very specific to your circumstances and they will answer the best they can. What anyone says here is more or less speculation.

I went to a Canadian school for my undergrad that exclusively does 0.5 credit courses (no 1.0 courses are offered at all in the sciences) and some labs were worth 0.25 and some were worth the whole 0.5 credit. As far as I know, it if you were taking a full course load (5-full time courses, or 2.5 full credits I believe), it will count to your GPA. But I agree, you should e-mail them to see, especially since it is a US school.
