Applying to EM residency in the US as a CMG?

Hi!

Very specific question, but given how competitive EM and FM+1 here in Canada and not so much south of the border, would it be reasonable to apply to EM in the US as well for carms, given that step 1 and step 2 are completed? I assume there are a few hurdles, including training length differences. Do you know of anyone that has done this before as a non-US citizen CMG?

From what I read, it's a big pain to come back to Canada to practice after EM training in US. 

There are a few threads on the other US-centric forum that discuss this, doesn't sound like an easy feat.

And from what I am reading on there, EM is a dumpster fire south of the border.
