Questions Regarding a Non-traditional Premed Journey

Recommended Posts

Hello to all! I have recently immigrated to Canada and currently living in Calgary as a Permanent Resident. I have completed my undergrad in Computer Science and Engineering in my home country (cGPA - 3.45/4.00, passing year - 2019). I want to study Medicine here in Canada and my target is the Cumming School of Medicine at Calgary. I know my cGPA is low and also that I have to take the prerequisite courses. For this, I applied for a second undergrad in Neuroscience at UCalgary. Unfortunately, my application was not approved.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can upgrade my cGPA? Will taking courses as a non-degree student help? Also, if I take the prerequisite courses or do my second undergrad at Mount Royal University (in Calgary) or any other community college - will it affect me negatively in my Med School application?

Thanks and May God bless you!
