Help!! Can't log into the application website!

Hi,

 

Is it just me, or is anyone else having problems logging into the application? Has this happened before, and if so, any idea how long it will take to come back up? If this problem isn't resolved soon do you think they will extend the application deadline? Help plz!

<pagetext>If you are pulled off the waitlist early on , can you still apply for a deferral or is it just for first round acceptances only??

 

Or is it based on how many spots they have available for deferrals whether they grant you a deferral and it doesn't matter if you came off the waitlist or not?

 

Regardless I'd accept the spot but I'm just wondering if they'd even entertain the idea.

I am not sure about this, but I do know that requests for deferrals must be received by June 2. So it may be that if you are pulled off the waitlist before that time they would consider your request.

I'm not sure about UofC specifically, but I was accepted in UofA off the waitlist, and at that time they had used up the quota deferral spots....so it wasn't even a possibilty for me. I'm betting it would be similar at UofC.

Yeah the June 2nd deadline is what I forgot about.

 

So chenzy are you going to apply to defer or slug out the rest of your work this summer??

Hi Happy2bme,

 

I've already sent in a request for deferral as there is no way I will have my thesis finished on time for August. Apparently the admissions committee is going to wait for requests to arrive, then make their decisions based on priority.

Good luck chenzy! Hopefully it'll be a light deferral year and you'll get it for sure! I can't imagine that they wouldn't grant a PhD candidate a deferral....

On a personal selfish side, I know you're inprov and your deferral would also move the waitlist so that also would make me very happy or at least someone at the top of the list anyways!

<pagetext>I've racked my brain for days deciding what to use for my 'biggest challenge'.....i've been EXTREMELY lucky, and really have only faced academic challenges...or somehting along those lines.....

 

I did come up with one that i thought would work nicely. in the summer of 1997, a friend was run over by a drunk driver...we were all at a year end party on a farm...and eveyrone, including me, knew that the driver was drunk..but did nothing....For the entire summer i felt super guilty....and along with that, I questioned my abilities as a leader...which is something i've always bee known for (student gov't, captain of bball teams etc).....i basically quit 'leading' for a whole year,....and lost alot of confidecne in myself...eventually, i remedied this by just working harder as a leader(ended up beng a strong leader again...student gov't again, most valubale team player in grade 12 bball etc). Basically, i just re-invented my self as a leader, and figured out what i needed to work on to be better....i took responsibility for not stopping the individual....told my friend who was hit by the car about my omission etc...

 

I think this example is decent...but im not too sure...what do you think?

Also, do you think that since it occured 6 years it may not be a good choice?
