Interview Invite Stats

Recommended Posts

Got my email a few weeks ago for March 31st. I was actually pretty surprised since I thought my stats were a little low for Toronto. I'm still not exactly sure how I pulled it off.

OMSAS GPA: 3.70

MCAT: 36-O (14PS, 11BS, 11VR)

Education: Just finished my B.Sc. in Biology at the U of C in December.

Extracurriculars: Average at best, imo. A research position the summer after first year and also a bcem research course in fourth year but no publications. Spent the past summer volunteering in Peru.

- Thought I wrote a decent essay to make up for my writing sample score. I consider myself a pretty good writer.. I just don't handle hand-writing very well.

- I don't think I qualify for the weighted GPA because I took the last semester of my last year off. I could be wrong, though.

- Everyone else's GPA here terrifies me. :)

For any curious grad students out there, I may be some hope for you. I got my interview invite on Feb 23 for Mar 23 interiew (I'm from Ontario, outside GTA). I rescheduled it for April 1 since I am in Africa doing a CIDA internship.

OMSAS GPA: 3.71

MCAT 2004: PS12, VR 8, Q, BS 11.

MCAT 2006: PS 9, VR 7, R, BS 9.

Finished grad degree in August 2006. Two first author pubs (in press) and two other pubs, plus conferences, posters, etc.

Lots of EC (hospital/social/community volunteer), varsity sports, grad student council, undergrad research (apart from honors work), international health/education experience, lots of awards.

Rejected from all schools across Canada over the last 3 years and U of T is my first interview ever!

received mine last week.

omsas gpa: 3.61, ut 3.8

mcat: 9vr/10bs/12ps R

really good ec's, volunteer, student govts, hospital councils, research, etc. I'd say that in the last 4 years i've been through hell and back, and back again, and again..... School is not difficult but life sure can be. i didn't ask for any special consideration and so this was completely unexpected. I hope this gives some hope to everyone else. don't be discouraged, if this is something you want/need to do, persevere and you will get a chance. i applied so i wouldn't regret not trying.

all the best to everyone =)

Phew! Just got an interview invite today at around 10am from Leslie Taylor.

BS 12, PS 12, VR 10, Q (34Q)

Omsas GPA 3.81 (UT GPA probably around 3.91)

From downtown Toronto

Interview for March 31 (but that conflicts with my Mac interview, so they're trying to reschedule for April 1)

I had given up hope... there's still hope... don't give up yet!!!
