Purple
I know of at least one 4th year IP who got in off the waitlist on June 2. The lists are separate for the different groups of applicants.

Purple
not sure about that. I know that IP, OOP, 4th yr, 2/3 yr, Rural and Aboriginal have their own lists but I'm not sure how the 2/3 yr IP vs 2/3yr OOP thing works. They might tell you if you call the admissions office:)
SometingCrazy
Good to hear that the 4th+ year IP waitlist is moving. Although it does kinda make me a tad sad that I might be at/near the bottom of said list...Lol. Oh well. Whatever happens happens.
luc_cervelo
I think that waiting for the waiting list movement is kind of like waiting up for Santa. The hope and excitement lasts for a little while, and then dies...

boodog
that's because the waitlist seems to be barely moving...it seems weird, i thought there was more overlap between UofA and UofC
SometingCrazy
Maybe next week there will be news...(God I sound desperate. Oh wait, that's because I am. ) The ppl that got off the waitlist on June 2nd have until June 16th to reply, so maybe next week...? Hang in there everyone! This ain't over until...Sept 2nd. luc_cervelo
This ain't over until...Sept 2nd. September 2? I might be misunderstanding you, because I know school starts at around that time...but why September 2?
tooty
September 2?I might be misunderstanding you, because I know school starts at around that time...but why September 2? People have been known to be called off the waitlist as late as a week into school.
SometingCrazy
Sept 2nd is when orientation begins for the new entering class, but yes ppl have been called off the waitlist as late as a week into classes. However, this seems to be rare. So realistically, the first day of classes is sort of the end date to the waiting.
xone
actually i think a new student joined us 3 weeks after classes began. i am not entirely sure of the circumstances, but it did happen. i agree though -- its not something common.
dinesh6
hey all! I just got off the waitlist today. BUT my heart is already with Calgary, so I am going to turn it down once I get the documents in the mail. I am a 4yr IP candidate. Hope my spot goes to you! Yes you. tooty
Does UA make calls in rounds or do they do so on a rolling basis? The deadline to reply for this current round of waitlisters is July 2nd. Does that mean that no calls will be made before that date?
SitRep
Hi Tooty! I can't say for sure, but given that the waitlist only seems to move around the day that the previous offers expire, it looks like it's not a rolling waitlist. However, I'd imagine that they would turn to a rolling waitlist eventually as it's much more efficient. Has anyone ever called to find out? SometingCrazy
Hi. Does anyone know any stats on the waitlist movement for UofA? (Eg. how many are waitlisted, how many have gotten off the waitlist in past years, etc.) I heard that UoA's waitlist tends to be short (~40 ppl) and that most ppl on the list eventually get accepted, but I have a feeling that this is just an optimistic rumor. I'm getting desperate to hear something, anything, from UofA, and even though I know there's nothing I can do to influence the waitlist movement or where I am on it, somehow it's a bit comforting to discuss the topic (even though I know the better thing would be to forget about it and just accept that whatever happens happens.) I'm also interested (OOP waitlist). I looked in this forum, and the only real info i found was that a fair number of years ago, they had 25 ppl on the OOP waitlist, and eventually, everyone was accepted off it. Does anyone know what happened last year or the year before?
luc_cervelo
I have no clue about the waitlist in previous years. I've heard the same things about the waitlist (it is supposed to move quite quickly, and most people are supposed to get in) but the lack of movement at this point in time also worries me. I'm OOP, and the one thing which keeps me hopeful is last years stats: out of (I think around 20 places usually in OOP category, 11 of those spaces were fiiled by OOP - so vip138 we might still have a fighting chance) It's rather too bad we haven't heard more. I get the feeling that many applicants didn't post about it here?
