iwh333
Hi all, I was just wondering what are some good courses to take at UBC, that might be helpful for the interview... like bioethics. Also if you've taken any fun and interesting courses that weren't too hard either feel free to post em Cheers Ian W
kgmed23
Phil 433A (biomedical ethics) is an interesting class and allows you to become familiar with ethics and develop/defend arguments. I took it with Rana Ahmad...she is a challenging prof.
jerseycream
I've heard that IHHS courses are really good as well. 401 I believe is a bioethics course, but I myself and confused because I dont know the difference between that course and phil 433..i heard that IHHS is more group based while phil 433 is more individual based. IHHS 400 is about health care as a team which I heard is great as well! also...anat 391 has great profs.

jerseycream
"Interprofessional Health and Human Service" Its courses for people who are generally going into health services...like nurses, people in food nutrition and health, hkin, etc. check the ssc, they have a number of classes that talk about contemporary health issues
kgmed23
I thought IHHS 300 - working in international health - was an interesting course.
leviathan
I really enjoyed anatomy 391 and pathology 375.
smakie
I think any really unusual courses can really help in unexpected ways -- I took Near Eastern History and Archaeology classes alot (I minored) and I found myself talking about Persian history during the MMI. jelly31
FNH courses are pretty cool - I took a 200-level course that was open-book (I think it was called "Exploring our food") I also liked Phytogeography (it's a Bio course) Of course I was a psych major so I took basically every psych course offered. One I didn't take but wish I did was Forensic Psych w/ Bob Hare, the guy who invented one of the Psychopathy scales and acts as a consultant for basically every movie/case involving psychopaths. Not sure if he's retired or not.
Med 2012
I agree that unusual and health-unrelated courses can help sometimes. I took a lot of Poli Sci and Econ courses and found myself talking about global corporate responsibility during my MMI.
JAdlCruz
I agree with Med 2012. While courses in biomedical ethics are very helpful, you can really draw *a lot* (as I did) from your arts and humanities electives.
md16
I really enjoyed fnh 355! I never missed a lecture because I found the material so interesting.
