Is an academic referee required for medical school?

 

I have 3 referees but none of them actually taught me in a class.

 

One is my varsity coach for 4 years but is a Emeritus Professor

Another is a provincial Health Director is a family friend and I did research for and the last is my university's Vice-principle who I served with on committees.

 

I do know a professor who taught me for 3 semesters and knows me, but I would not know who to replace with.

One of them must be able to comment on your academic abilities, the university v-p

what if they by some freak chance did not comment on my academic abilities in their letters but concentrated on my ECs and the type of person I am?
